Also referred to as acutonics or vibrational therapy, sonopuncture is an alternative treatment similar to acupuncture that uses high-frequency sound waves to stimulate specific healing points on the human body. Traditionally, the sound waves are produced using specially designed tuning forks, but some practitioners also use high quality sound heads and conducting mediums such as gel or oil to generate and apply cylindrical beams of high frequency sound.
Sonopuncture can be used on people of all ages as a standalone treatment or in combination with other therapies like acupuncture. Practitioners use the therapy for various ailments, including infection, wrinkles and scars, varicose veins, headaches, and chronic pain.
